We’ve been here before with Ridley Scott circa "Prometheus." Some spectacular trailers (including a new one yesterday), an all-star cast, impressive production design, and a promising story, but the question is whether or not "The Martian" deliver. Certainly, it looks very good, as these new images attest, and the filmmakers are doing their best to get it right.
The movie is based by on the book by Andy Weir, and he’s on stage with Scott, Matt Damon, and folks from NASA in this featurette interview. The focus is more on the scientific accuracy of the film, which makes sense, since the story itself approaches the space thriller from a pragmatic angle: if an astronaut really was stranded on Mars, how would he survive?
Well, we’ll find out when "The Martian" opens on October 2nd.
