Even though we’re just about a month away from Ridley Scott‘s “The Counselor,” it’s still held under a bit of a veil of mystery. With no festival appearances to boost the buzz, and limited promo material, the star-studded thriller based on a script by Cormac McCarthy still has a lot kept under wraps. Today, a further peek at one of the characters provides a small preview of what’s to come.
WWD has a little profile on Cameron Diaz and her costuming, along with some new snaps to highlight her turn in the film. “Malkina has no humanity. She’s soulless. Her world is very, very dark so she wants to wear a facade to deflect all of that,” Diaz says about her character.
“Ridley said, ‘You make fashion for a woman who wants to be seen’ and that’s exactly who Cameron’s character Malkina is,” says Paula Thomas of Thomas Wylde whose clothes provided Malkina with her wardrobe. “Not that many roles get written for women who have this kind of power. I was surprised Cameron was cast in the role, but she completely immersed herself and I think audiences will see a side of her they’ve never seen before.”
