Sure, Peacock is only a couple of years old, so the streamer isn’t on the same level as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. But NBCUniversal‘s streaming platform is quietly producing a lot of original content, including “Bel-Air,” “Vampire Academy,” “The Resort,” and “Meet Cute.” So, what else is upcoming? How about “The Calling,” a new cop drama with a spiritual twist?
Based on Dror Mashani‘s book series, the series stars Jeff Wilbusch as Avraham Avraham, a detective whose religious life informs his police work. But what happens when one case throws Avraham’s faith into doubt?

THE CALLING tells the story of NYPD Detective Avraham Avraham, whose belief in mankind is his superpower when it comes to uncovering the truth. Guided by a deep sense of spirituality and religious principles, Avraham is left to question his own humanity when a seemingly routine investigation turns upside down.
Alongside Wilbusch, “The Calling” also stars Juliana Canfield, Karen Robinson, and Michael Mosley. Guest stars include Constance Zimmer, Chris Sullivan, Ben Shenkman, Rafael Cebrián, and Danielle Davenport.
“The Calling” boasts a slew of talent on its crew. Legendary director Barry Levinson directs multiple episodes of the upcoming series. He also serves as co-executive producer on “The Calling.” Levinson also directed two episodes of Hulu‘s “Dopesick” earlier this year. In addition, TV extraordinaire David E. Kelley serves as showrunner and head writer, and Hans Zimmer and Steve Mazzaro co-compose the show’s music.
