Over the past couple of months, we’ve begun to see ads and trailers for James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic, “A Complete Unknown.” But that’s not the only biopic on the calendar to feature an iconic American musician. We also have “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” which focuses on New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen. And now we have our first look at Jeremy Allen White as the man himself.

Much like the aforementioned “A Complete Unknown,” we have to reserve judgment on White’s resemblance to Bruce Springsteen until we see some actual footage from the film.

When the FX drama “The Bear” arrived out of nowhere in the summer of 2021, it was thrilling, a bolt of “Uncut Gems”-like electricity coursing through the veins of damaged, traumatized characters trying to survive not only the high-pressure-cooker stress of a highly dysfunctional kitchen setting but their highly dysfunctional and broken lives. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Cousin Ritchie on the show, perfectly described the series in our season one interview as “high-sodium volatility”; no one was coked up on drugs per se (though sometimes they were), but the surging blood pressure anxieties of their environment and lives made for a brilliantly toxic and gripping show about generational trauma, grinding through life and surviving grief.

FX’s highly acclaimed, highly anticipated dysfunctional kitchen/family drama “The Bear” returned to Hulu yesterday, June 26, to much online fanfare (fans were binge-watching the series immediately). Created by Christopher Storer and co-showrun by Storer and Joanna Calo, the two sole directors on the series thus far aside from a Ramy Youseff (“Ramy”) directorial guest spot in season two and a new slate of directors scheduled for season three, earlier this year, it was reported that “The Bear” was scheduled to shoot season three and four back to back.

But critics who got wind of it first knew immediately that the show sizzled with intensity and bruising emotional family baggage. By the end of the summer, when audiences finally had a chance to catch up and binge it all, the series became a bonafide word-of-mouth hit.

Is it possible we have a snub or even two in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category? The Ladies may be searching high and low for two nominees to round out the field, but the gentlemen face a somewhat more competitive race. And that’s a big emphasis on “somewhat.” One thing is for sure, last year’s winner, Jeremy Allen White, will absolutely be nominated again and is once again the frontrunner for his performance in season two of “The Bear.” Comedy legend Martin Short should also earn his third nod for “Only Murders in the Building.” Beyond those two actors, however, things may or may not get interesting.

Having recently left his film post at Netflix to start his own media company, many wondered where Scott Stuber would land next. While his new company has not been named yet, the producer has found his next project: a film about Bruce Springsteen centered around the storytelling in his classic ’70s album Nebraska. What’s more, the talent involved is massive.

An adaptation of the Warren Zanes book published last year, “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska,” Jeremy Allen White, star of “The Bear” is in talks to play Springsteen and Scott Cooper, known for soulful music projects like his debut “Crazy Horse,” will direct according to Deadline.

Of course, the 75th Anniversary ceremony was supposed to be held on September 19th, but Hollywood had more important things going on with the WGA and SAG strikes. The Television Academy and their broadcast partner, FOX, decided to reschedule for January and, well, frankly we wish we’d taken the time to sit down and formulate these predictions four months ago.

In fact, over the last 15 years, the only real notable narrative films on the subject are Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 drama “The Wrestler” and the solid, but already forgotten 2018 dramedy “Fighting With My Family.” The last 12 months have been something of a sea change, comparably, with Roger Ross Williams’ superb “Cassandro” about famed exótico lucha libre wrestler Saúl Armendáriz and now, Sean Durkin’s “The Iron Claw,” a spotlight on the Von Erichs, one of the most respected and snakebit families in the sport.

Is Jason Sudekis going to pull of a triple crown? The “Ted Lasso” co-creator won the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy in 2021 and 2022 and is gunning for a third win for the Apple TV+ breakout’s final season. The last time any actor pulled off three wins in a row was Michael J. Fox, who won between 1986 and 1988 for “Family Ties.” Suekis, who also has two other Emmys in the Comedy Series category, is absolutely going to be nominated, but he has a ton of competition for the win.

It’s been a very rocky development for the limited series, “Devil in the White City.” The series has been something of a passion project for Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, dating back to when it was being developed as a feature film. Then, recently, it was announced that Keanu Reeves would star with Todd Field directing. However, both of those guys eventually left, leaving the project in jeopardy.
