In an era when streaming series are seemingly dumped and then quickly forgotten or just canceled after a season or two, there exists an outlier— “Slow Horses.” This is a series that hasn’t really dominated the streaming charts, but for some reason, Apple TV+ not only keeps renewing it, but the series has a new season, like clockwork, each year. And so, even though many of you might not have seen the series, here’s your first look at Season 3 of “Slow Horses.”
For those who haven’t yet hopped on the “Slow Horses” saddle, the series follows the story of a misfit group of British intelligence officers who have been sent to the dumping ground for those who aren’t the top MI5 agents. Basically, it’s like “Mission: Impossible” if the films didn’t follow Ethan Hunt and instead, followed Ethan Hunt’s slacker brother. That said, it’s a delightful series, led by the incomparable Gary Oldman, and is a unique darkly comedic take on spy storytelling.
Joining Oldman in the ensemble cast are Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Jonathan Pryce. The series is written and produced by Will Smith (“Veep”), and Season 3 is directed by Saul Metzstein.
While it’s maybe no the world-dominating hit as Apple’s own “Ted Lasso,” “Slow Horses” is still very beloved amongst critics, earning multiple BAFTA TV nominations over its run. The third season is set to debut on November 29 on Apple TV+. You can watch the trailer below:
