Got a Tip?

Mickey’s Not A Broke Down Piece Of Meat; Just A ‘Broken Horse’

Hyuck! Taking on jobs like he has a timebomb strapped to his leg, Mickey Rourke is wasting no time scooping up more gigs now that he’s officially returned and proven reliable (relative of course).

The Oscar nominated actor, who’s been on the wrong side of the press this week, has signed on to star in “Broken Horses,” the debut Hollywood feature from Indian director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

The film is apparently a gangster caper and Chopra and Rourke recently met a screening of “The Wrestler,” that impressed the filmmaker. “I was bowled over by his performance,” Chopra told THR. “Both of us had an instant connect when we met in Los Angeles. He was my first choice and was finalized even before he won the Golden Globe; it’s great to have him on board for one of the key roles in the film. Mickey deserves all the acclaim he is getting and I hope he wins the Oscar as well.”

Chopra was nominated for an Oscar in the short, non-fiction category for his 1979 film “An Encounter with Faces.”
