These comments are retarded. I'd LOVE to see just one of you produce a full length feature film, at Spike Lee's level, mind you, and finance it yourselves, deal with actors and unions, music, location fees, taxes, equipment…ect. You can't. You never will. I don't care what he's like as a person…he makes amazing films.

I used to think I liked Spike Lee films. Following him on Twitter effectively turned me off him as a person (like it has done for most folks whose output I used to respect) but I still thought I liked his films. Until I pulled out the 8 or so I own over the last months. And though his movies have cultural relevance, you know what, he's really NOT a great film-maker. Sit down and watch 'She Gotta Have It', 'School Daze' and 'Do The Right Thing' and for the most part you will see some terrible acting, terrible cinematography and TERRIBLE writing. Why the heck did I think this was good film-making once upon a time? I think because I like all types of narrative I respected the fact they existed. But he's how many years in and exempt 'Get On The Bus', 'Bamboozled', 'When The Levees Broke (a documentary) and 'Malcolm X' despite the many historical inaccuracies this is NOT a strong film-maker, especially when he himself writes the script.

With that said and done, if someone can afford TWO $3000 floor seats PER GAME and owns property in NYC don't ask me to bankroll your ish. Proclaiming it's 'for the cause' is further insult to boot. Dear Spike, the 'cause' is NOT the 'Spike Lee' cause to fund you to make another weak-as-hell 'Red Hook Summer'. You're sick of Hollywood? Didn't they just pay your ass to re-make 'Old Boy'. Nah uh, son, seriously get the eff ON with that BS #ShoNuff #RightOn

Everyone's been bitching about how terrible it is that Spike has millions, yet goes to Kickstarter to finance his next film. But here's something I haven't heard anyone talking about:

Spike never says that he's not investing his own money into this project as well. Maybe he's putting up 1.25 million of his own and is only asking fans for half the budget. Anyone ever think of that? And not just for this film, but for all Kickstarter projects?

Also, I'm guessing that people who do Kickstarters have to pay for the rewards (t-shirts, posters, DVDs) themselves. This isn't nearly as much as the full project, but it certainly has to count for something, right?

I just watched Red Hook Summer and I honestly think he lost his touch. Oldboy doesn't look all that promising either but it does look expensive. How are we suppose to get behind someone fighting the power who is about to release a blockbuster film?

First of all, does anyone actually "forget" his body of work? Like he claims around 2:30?

Come one. He's been in this business for a LONG time. Are we supposed to honestly believe that he doesn't have the connections, the relationships, to make this film, let along his own personal net worth?

"Fight the Power"? What power? What man is keeping him down? Here's a crazy idea, make films that connect with audiences, like he used to do, and those audiences will support him and his financial endeavors.

I find this video absolutely ridiculous on a number of levels.
