Boo to Button indeed. It's weird saying that because before I saw it (meaning this entire year!) I was quite the advocate for it, predicting it to be the best film of the year. I wanted it to be nominated in every category...I thought it was going to be that good. Then I saw it and found it to be the bore that it is. Now I find myself getting mad at each nomination or accolade it receives. It's just not deserving. Every other film has been in the 90s on RT while this one is in the mid 70s (not that it matters really, just a fact).<BR/><BR/>And speaking of the script, say what you want about Forrest Gump (I personally love the film), this film is such a copy of that one albeit, a dull mediocre one, that it's just not funny. From his one true love that doesn't want him/then does/then doesn't, to his learning to walk, to his war days, to the boating, to his captain friend dying, to his "momma" (God he even said it just like Forrest), to his home in the South that he would stray from only to keep coming back to, to his momma dying, to his "good time" with his one true lover montage, to the hummingbird (which I guess is the feather without the symbolism), it goes on and on. What did Fincher find attractive in this script? Or did he just see it from a technical point of view and see the visual effects as a challenge? I should prolly watch him on CHarlie Rose, but honestly don't care enough to.
