The plot was riddled with holes, London was not exotic enough a location, the villain was not diabolical enough, he was only slighted, Bond himself lacked the panache the character should have. Casino Royale modernised it well, but Skyfall was an absolute shambles.
Bond should be cool not whiny, the locations should be exciting, the villain should be dangerous. Make the stunts and action excellent, don't kill the Bond girl too quickly, don't make the plot holes too blatant and you've got a great Bond movie.
