The relationship can hardly serve as compensation for all the previous old man/young woman plots in Allen’s movies. Calling it a May-December romance is both exaggeration and giving Woody Allen too much credit. All this just goes to demonstrate that the industry’s treatment of women over 40 still leaves very much to be desired.
