And Shankman's Hairspray was not only his career best, but one of the best movie musicals of all time. I'd say Shankman is a far better musical director than Rob Marshall.

Its why he asked Jonah Hill to turn down Transformers 2, and why he didn't star in that McG movie with Chris Pine, and instead chose a Sarah Polley movie.

Shankman is no better than Bay or McG, so I don't see why he'd even consider this.

As someone who has seen this quite a few times (Its one of my favorite shows playing right now) I can say that Seth Rogen is beyond wrong for this part. Which is why I'm sure it's either not true (He just went to see the show, I remember Miley Cyrus went to see the show on Broadway and all of a sudden people were saying she'd be in the movie) or, he's up for another role and Star got their facts wrong.
