If they\'re going to cast older known faces, then Johnny Depp has the most interesting POV of any of them. He could make Solo a very engaging character, although none of them will be able to replace the original stars of the TV show. What about Waverly? Will we see one of the original actors in that role? I mean, how can they not include them, since they\'re both still working and very viable audience grabbers.
I am both excited and frightened by the prospect of this movie, given the recent train wrecks that have been thrown out as remakes of TV series.

He\'s also the perfect age. An audience favorite in the genre, a terrific actor, and the perfect age. Not to mention a big favorite of the director. Hence, perfect.

And it\'s easy to push his movie back. Movie schedules change all the time.

Thesaurusrs....so what? Damon\'s done some Bourne movies. Good for him. There\'s such a thing as too much, and there ARE other good actors out there who can also do action. All they have to do is act their part and let the stunt workers do the hard part (of the action, anyway). It\'s not like Damon or Tom Cruise really leap out of buildings or swing from helicopters, jeez.

I\'m curious as to why Brad Pitt has been ruled right out. Are he and Soderbergh on the outs after the Moneyball fiasco? Surely Soderbergh doesn\'t hold it against Pitt for staying with the project after the studio booted Soderbergh, right? I thought they were better friends than that.

Audiences have proven that they enjoy seeing Damon do rolls like this - that\'s what matters. It\'s very difficult to find an actor who can convincingly handle both the action and the acting. Most of the other names are either jokes - Reynolds- or big question marks - Gosling.

Both the studio and the director are obviously interested, and I think he could push back his directorial stint a bit.

NO TO DAMON! NEW FACES, PLEASE! The fact that he\'s already done a (franschise) role like this is exactly why we need someone else.
Come on, we don\'t need to keep seeing the same 2 or 3 actors in every frikkin thing!

Damon would be perfect. He\'s the right age, and unlike almost every person on the list, he\'s carried movies like this before. Are you absolutely SURE on that Feb date for his directing debut?

Please, less Dicaprio, huh? Is that too much to ask? And I\'m sorry, can\'t take any list seriously for this that includes Ryan Reynolds or Robert Pattinson.
Jude Law would be a good change. New type of role for him, which I think he could really pull off after seeing him on stage in London as Matt Burke. He could def do it.

I\'m really getting tired of Hollywood making remakes. But for some reason with a strong script and cast this may have potential.
Also if you want your film to do medicore at the box office. Go ahead and cast Ryan Gosling we\'ve already seen how strongly he opens a movie.

I\'d love it if Clooney and Soderbergh\'s next (final?) team up was Elmore Leonard\'s Road Dogs--a sequel of sorts to Out of Sight featuring Jack Foley. The book isn\'t quite up to par with Out of Sight, but there\'s enough good stuff there to make it into something great (especially if Scott Frank is on board).
