Very interesting! I love the bit about the fonts, as well as your take about the possible plot of the children running away from a religious tyrant of a town to be bohemians, sounds great. I wasn't too enthralled by Darjeeling Limited, Life Aquatic or Fantastic Mr Fox, but I'm excited about this new one after reading this! I'm also very curious to see a Wes Anderson film set in an actual time period, I wonder how those constraints will effect the film.

It also sticks to how they list the actors in the movie while showing them at the end of the trailer. Royal Tenenbaums started this and then actual did it in the beginning of the film as well. Life Aquatic also did this in the trailer as did Fantastic Mr. Fox, but Darjeeling did not, presumably because it was a more limited cast.

This trailer also uses alot of the standard Anderson camera push ins and pull outs. As well as his penchant for panning to show something else that wasn't in the frame before.

Also worth noting is that this is Wes' first live action film that is not rated R. Guess he has cut down on his cursing although to his credit, it was already limited and most of the time hilarious.

The Fantastic Mr Fox used Helvetica for the titles instead of Futura. Also, Anthony does not write letters to the maid Grace. Grace is his sister, who thinks he's a failure. Inez is the maid.

I was wondering about the aspect ratio as well. Does anyone know if the movie is actually going to be 1.85 or if the trailer was cropped for some reason?

on 'Slow Motion Endings', actually, Darjeeling Limited doesn't end with a slow-mo walk to a pop song. It just ends with the train. It actually starts like all of Anerson's previous films ended, with Bill Murray running after the train in slow motion to the sound of The Kinks' 'This Time Tomorrow'. I've always found that really odd. It is as if we're seeing the ending of a previous Wes Anderson film starring Bill Murray, and suddenly the ending intertwines with Darjeeling's beginning, as both Adrien Brody and Murray run to catch the same train. Seeing the end of another movie at the start of a new one, I love that.

Nice catch on the font- it's all been variations of Futura until now. Also: the trailer is in 1.85:1, and every one of his movies to date has been in 2.35:1. Aspect ratio change as well?
