Marvel really knows what they're doing. It feels so revolutionary in Hollywood but it's just the comic book model on new canvases. Here's Iron Man! Now the Hulk! Now the Hulk vs. Ironman! Now the Hulk teamed up with Ironman facing a villain from Spiderman! And here comes Spiderman! But the Hulk dies! But here's a whole NEW Hulk! Rinse, repeat, and repeat, there will always be ten year-old boys.

If anything the Netflix project is sounder than the movies. Comic books are bite-sized chapters of stories told over several issues. Each individual serving is shorter than a film, and the final result much longer. Which sounds appealing to me. There's nothing more boring than the last third of any comic book film

"But if the person cast as Luke Cage (for example) isn’t a major movie star, it’s doubtful—even with years of development on Netflix—that actor is then going to lead his own movie,"

Eh. Yes and no. Most people couldn't tell you who Chris Hemsworth was before THOR, and only slight more people would be able to name Chris Evans before CAPTAIN AMERICA, so there's a precedent. But, of course, hunky young white guys get much, much more slack than anyone else in Hollywood.
