It was not a devastating downturn but the figures show a decline, so 'disappointing' I thought was accurate.

After all, when Scream 3 came out it was an established franchise, compared with the unknown original, scream 3 initially produced a 23% or $36mill less return at box-office from the original investment made by the studio.

I'd hardley consider that disappointing. It's also about $10M less than the original's tally. That's a remarkably successful franchise, but however you'd like to spin it….
