Paranormal activity was awful. Downright terrible. I couldn't believe this movie even got a wide release. A product of hype machine i suppose. Don't waste your time with it.

Then take it from a Playlist contributor who's seen both 'Pelham' and 'Citizen': Neither is very good, but while the former is made by a talented, in-control craftsman with some handle on the thematic nature of his film, while the latter is offensive, derivative and shamelessly self-satisfied. The auds may like this thing, but to me the only reason is the ludicrous violence; and it's for that same reason that dung like the 'Saw' series gets extended for 8 chapters or w/e.

'Law Abiding Citizen' has the same things going for it that 'Pellham 123' did. Even if Butler and Foxx aren't on the level of Washington and Travolta the trailers and premises kind of feel the same where the villain takes control and everyone else is along for the ride.

The budget of 'Citizen' was half the $100mil of 'Pellham' and the opening weekend numbers are similar.

They're both critic-proof as far as the trailers looking decent enough to check out. Especially after not having an action film out in a little while.

I don't believe you actually reported those numbers that way on a professional film blog. "Feels like a better per screen average"? Just multiply each by 2, you dumbos. 141 x 2 comes in way under 372, and 70 x 2 comes in way over 119. NYILU did over 50% better. Lazy lazy.
