You posit that "Think Like A Man" isn't likely to translate to foreign audiences. It wasn't "likely" to be the number one movie either. You could have replaced this cast with any ethnicity without changing a word, so it might have some international legs yet.

The first paragraph kills it. Kudos to Rainforest Films and Sony/Screen Gems for giving us a thoughtful romantic comedy, far closer to the world many of us live in today (or would like to live in) than the peripheral (or non-existent) role people of color play in more "mainstream" fare. I watched this film yesterday in a Santa Monica theater with an audience of variable genders, ages and races, and we all left with a smile on our faces. It's not that difficult. Audiences are telling us what they want. Will the studios listen?

I know it's just as mediocre as a whitebread rom-com, and it has Chris Brown in it, but thank god there's a movie that shows exactly what you mentioned – not every black actor needs to just be the ethnic sidekick in movies. I'll watch this before 5YE any day.
