Trent- I reviewed Avatar on the site. I don't get how I would be "butthurt" about anything regarding a movie I gave a "B" to. Why are there these bullshit extremes? Can't some of us think the movie is ok, a bit problematic, kinda fun, but altogether forgettable, and it's success a bit fluky and negligible? I mean, sometimes I feel we either have to be on the warpath against the damn thing (and saying I don't remember what the hell the thing's about, nor do others, is not the most damning insult), or we have to say, OH JAMES CAMERON, HAVE MY BABY AND MOCAP IT FOR ME? People like this movie. It's not the death knell for cinema or anything. You'd think it was "A Nancy Meyers Film."

I have no problem with a Avatar either... it does seem a bit insipid to my tastes but hardly offensive.

I think the bigger problem here is Alvin and the Chipmunks. That shit is a fucking tumor.

Come on, "Transformers 2" was the biggest hit of 2009, of course another giant stupid movie with cool visuals is going to do well at the B.O. That doesn't mean it's a great movie. People like big dumb action movies, and this is the biggest and the dumbest one out right now.

Nothing I've seen or read makes me want to see Avatar, but it doesn't surprise me or upset me that it's #1 for two weeks in a row. It is what it is.

Pretty sure Avatar was made mostly for the visuals, which were, well, REALLY nice. Alot of interest visual designs were used in the creatures *respect* ^_^Y. Remember the premise for this movie was developed 10 years ago, back then this plot had only been used maybe a hundred times, rather than the million formulaic plots we've suffered since then.
