The A-Team, on the other hand, is a disaster of a screenplay. I'm actually encouraged by the way this box office shook out.

It was about time, and the box-office take probably reflects that. Even though it's a remake, it's a pretty fresh idea given the climate.

Can't say I feel sorry for The A-Team. It looks worthless, like some recent Bradley Cooper movies, so good thing he's signed up for plenty more starring roles.

It was clearly made with care. It was not a movie haphazardly made just to earn a quick buck. It sounds like the author of this article hadn't seen the movie, yet was still making fun of it. That's not cool. Get off your ass and see the movie because it's actually really good. Quit being a hater. I've been a devoted reader of the Playlist for months now, but I'm getting fucking sick of the pessimistic bullshit. Report the news, write reviews, but quit adding your cynical viewpoint to everything. I'm getting tired of it. A few of my friends have already given up on your site because of it.

It's incredibly well made with great performances. I know it's cool to shit on the movie, but it's actually great. The things they changed actually make the film more poignant than the original. I'm not saying it's better than the original, although it is better made, but Jackie's arc in the film is stronger than Pat Morita's because of the change in how his wife and child died. Plus, because of the change in age to the eponymous hero, the film becomes more of a father-son story. Whereas Mr. Miagi is a funny karate master with a fleshed-out backstory, Mr. Han is a funny kung fu master with a fleshed-out backstory AND a character arc. Mr. Miagi doesn't overcome anything in the original. He is just the mentor. Don't misinterpret my comments as shit-talking the original. I am a huge lover of 80s movies and John G. Avildsen's Karate Kid has one of the most satisfying endings in film history. That's how highly I think of that movie.
