Sucks that Warrior prolly won\'t even make back it\'s 30 mil budget. This means Nick Nolte\'s Oscar chances are pretty much gone, which is a shame cause he deserves one for Best Supporting.

Leigh, I\'m glad you opened that up for debate. Since, while I enjoyed \"Ocean\'s Eleven,\" it should NOT meet the standard of \"serious adult entertainment.\" But a lot of the mainstream theaters in America are flooded with cheap, facile entertainment for kids and teens, and, by default, something like Ocean\'s Eleven carries more maturity, from the relationship between Danny and Tess, to the color-bleeding-into-color cinematography, to the relatively older cast.

\"Ocean\'s Eleven\" SHOULDN\'T be considered a \"movie for adults\" because it\'s silly, lightweight trifle, albeit from an excellent filmmaker. But for many, there aren\'t such alternatives. Hell, to most of the audiences going to the movies this weekend, \"Warrior\" might as well be their Godard.

\"...and some men, uncomfortable with the amount of skin being showed (and, let‘s face it, totally insecure)\"

False.

I hate MMA because it\'s ridiculous and boring in its (apparent) bloodlust

Yea, Gabe, nothing comes across more as serious, adult entertainment than \"Ocean\'s Eleven\".

Do you even go to the movies?

The Weinstein company may have paid a $6 million advance on Our Idiot Brother but also take into consideration that they promised $15 million in ad spend. The film\'s break even point has to be around the $30-35 million mark. It looks like they\'ll come close to break even and will probably generate some income from ancillary but the film has to be considered an under-performer.

@Gabe
You hit it: Warrior was my Godard (or Fellini, I\'d rather) this weekend, certainly compared to Bucky Larson and Shark Night but solid on its own. And man, don\'t break your neck distancing from Ocean\'s, though it is rich that someone would accuse you of touting frilly films for the masses (maybe you should do like the kids on IMDB and make your top 10 list of last year a signature link, which would eradicate any doubt that you\'re about art all the time.)
@ Leigh
WHERE do you go to the movies? Most of us outside of NY, to a slightly lesser degree LA and the next 15 markets (for bigger art releases) are devoid of a lot even aimed at adults. Ocean\'s can pass in most markets; not everything adult has to be moody and heavy.
