Glad for Eastwood, sad for Mann. Blackhat was a fantastic, cutting edge piece of work, but it seemed to be pre-dissed by the Internet gods, and somehow the general concensus turned on it without anyone seeing it. Reviewers made up their mind before seeing it

sad about Inherent Vice. i counted fifteen walkouts when i saw it friday and it was only a half-packed cinema. word got out quick it was not a balls-out comedy. as for blackhat, we all saw that coming, right? shame because it\’s probably a good film. those trailers did not do it any justice and the lead? def not a box-office draw apart from those cape movies.

I would be curious to compare the ad buys for these films seems like every other TV spot is for Imitation Game or American Sniper.
