Watch: Two Clips And New Pics From ‘Laggies’ With Keira Knightley, Chloe Moretz & Sam Rockwell

Laggies

The arrested development genre, aka adultolescence, has primarily been the domain of men for many years. David Wain, Vince Vaughn, Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel, and most of Apatow’s understudy comedian protégés, have excelled in the field. But the genre apparently isn’t exclusive to guys anymore, which is never a bad thing. One of the first entries in the genre from the ladies is Lynn Shelton’s Laggies.” American novelist-turned-screenwriter, Andrea Seigel, wrote the screenplay.

About lagging behind, hence the term “Laggies,” the movie centers on a drifting, responsibility-averse woman approaching her thirties, who can’t get her shit together. The movie stars Keira Knightley as the laggie in question, and centers on the odd, unexpected relationship between the older woman and a teenager she befriends, played by Chloë Grace Moretz. Of course things get more complicated when the laggie gets mixed up with her friend’s laywer dad (Sam Rockwell).

Co-starring Ellie Kemper, Mark Webber, Kaitlyn Dever, and Tiya Sircar, “Laggies” debuted at Sundance earlier this year. Despite talk that the title would eventually change for releaseperhaps the thought at the time “Laggies” being too obscure a termthe name has stuck. A24 is releasing the film on October 24th, and two new clips and a few photos have arrived as well. Watch below, along with an excerpt from Knightley’s interview on "Q With Jian Ghomeshi."
