Rumors of copies being destroyed might pertain to originals but this thing has been circulating for a decade as a bootleg – much like the live-action Justice League pilot. As long as it remains such a big point of discussion it's likely there will always be a bootleg copy to be found at some convention somewhere on earth.

Also, I say it every time I see that still but Corman's Thing has the coloring of a turd that someone sculpted to have an ape's head. Where FOX's Thing was not much better (still having that weird turd look to him) but they at least managed to get the color right.

I know this was a cheapie, but their Thing looks much better than the one in the Fox movies.
