They have trailer factories. These factories shit trailers is the most formulaic way possible. So yes this trailer has the same feel as Rocky 1-whatever, The Boxer, That one with Russel Crowe, Seabiscuit, Rudy, Any Given Football Movie, etc.

What should be factored in is A: David O' Russell
B: Ridiculously stellar cast C:The way Russell has handled the fight footage in the age of Pay-per-view boxing. Which appears to me to be different than anything I've ever seen in a boxing movie.

Cross between Boogie Nights and Rocky?? I really like you guys at the Playlist but seriously. Sloppy crossed with obvious.

Except it doesn't. There's absolutely no link to the feel of Boogie Nights. This is what rankles me about the typical "movie A crossed with movie B" descriptions – you're only associating it with Boogie Nights because on an abstract level, Mark Wahlberg is acting in a more serious movie. That's it. The Rudy line above is stupid – Rudy is a Rocky carbon copy, so why not say it's Rocky crossed with Rocky? – but it still makes more sense than comparing this to Boogie Nights.
