Seems like a fair gripe to me

Personally, although I love high concept sci fi films, they come in fits and starts, and it seems we\’ve been a little oversaturated by them lately. This year we\’ve already had Source Code, The Adjusment Bureau and Limitless (to some degree)…so you can\’t help if people feel like they been there done that.

– Society is messed up for some reason. The poor are poorer & the rich are richer. Young attractive white man at the bottom of society gets his hands on something truly important. For the next 90 minutes he\’s chased by a crew of 5 Suited Henchman & narrowly escapes capture every time. During the journey he takes an attractive white wealthy woman hostage & during the course of their adventure the two fall in love.
It all ends with the two mismatched lovers (Rich & Poor) breaking into the Evil Corporations head office & the two take the fight to Mr. Capitalist. Explosions occur & the heroes are happy & alive…. probably living in a cabin somewhere in the woods.

Seriously, I just would love for their to be a sci-fi film by Hollywood that doesn\’t follow this storyline.

I think it\’s fairly obvious that Andrew Niccol doesn\’t want this movie to be taken at face value. Like pretty much every thriller set in a dystopian future, it\’s meant as a metaphor, and at that level I think it looks fascinating.

But what do I know? I\’m a guy who doesn\’t hate Justin Timberlake!
