While I don't like that the trailer is pretty much giving everything away, I'll still go watch it. Julianne Moore is amazing and I'm really curious what Kimberly Peirce has brought to the table. I still don't like Chloe Moretz in the lead. She looks more like those popular high school girls than a pariah.

Ther's only one Carrie, and it's Sissy Spacek. This remake is laughable and awful. Chloe Moretz is a good actress, but she's too pretty for this role. How can you believe she's Carrie? Carrie can't be hot!

Looks more like a Stephen King movie. And they pretty much give you the whole story in the trailer. The only reason I have any interest in seeing the movie is the actors. Moore and Mortez are great. But from even watching the trailer, it doesn't look that different from the DePalma film, just glossier.

EL HANSO, you made a good point about the telekinesis aspect of the story, in this trailer. It seems like the filmmaker and the screenwriter didn't handle it properly.

Hard to tell from a trailer, but so far there's no indication that this movie is invested in the primal emotions that the book and De Palma's film were so good at tapping into – feeling like an outcast, wanting to assert your own power. It seems more concerned with flashy visuals.

So much for this being a retelling of the book. Based on that trailer they've lifted entire portions & segments not present in the book at all directly from De Palma's classic. Hell, the design of the prom set looks perfectly identical to the original.
There seemed like A LOT of potential in Kimberely Pierce – director of Boys Don't Cry – taking on the Carrie story. Hell, wouldn't it make a fanatastic "retelling" of the book if the reason super-attractive Chloe Moretz (yeah, like she'd be someone guys her age would steer clear of) is ostracized is because she's an outspoken lesbian? It's not exactly an original idea but would certainly be more timely than what this trailer indicates the film is doing…. which is nothing.
Ugh indeed.

I know this is a remake so there's probably not a ton of surprises but do they have to show every damn piece of the story in the trailer?

Does Moretz give Sissy Spacek a run for her money? —> Nothing against Chloe here, but that is an ABSURD question. Spacek is a once in a generation talent. Chloe, while good, hasn't reached that point yet. She was really good in Let Me In, which I suspect is probably a better performance then what we will see here. Too much lip pursing going on.
