"You can’t do a slasher movie as a TV series. Slasher movies burn bright and fast," quips a smart-alecky kid in the first trailer for "Scream." Yes, the self-referential horror series is now going to be a self-referential TV show, and it’ll be interesting to see if the series can indeed sustain the tension over multiple seasons instead of a brisk 90 minutes.

Bella Thorne, Willa Fitzgerald, Amy Forsyth, John Karna, Carlson Young and Amadeus Serafini are the new crew of kids this time around, with a story that will update things into the era of cyber-bullying. But don’t worry, there’s still lots of scenes of teenagers being ominously alone before they are dispatched by the new Ghostface.
