The biggest franchise that no one over the age of 12 cares about, 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios' "Ice Age" series has gone from strength to strength at the box office, with the last installment, "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," making close to a billion dollars internationally, despite not really attracting the crossover adult fanbase that Pixar and DreamWorks do.
But the fact is, kids love these films, and so they'll keep being made, and next summer brings a fourth entry, "Ice Age 4: Continental Drift," which sees Sid the Sloth (John Leguizamo), Manny the Mammoth (Ray Romano) and Diego the Sabre-Toothed Tiger (Denis Leary), along with assorted hangers-on, heading out onto the high seas and tangling with a group of pirates.
Digital Spy has a new trailer, which as usual, features rat/squirrel thing Scrat and his eternal existential quest for an acorn, and will likely be more entertaining than the film itself. The site has also premiered a new image from the film, which sees the first look at the new additions to the cast, which includes the omnipresent Jeremy Renner, Nick Frost, Alan Tudyk, Heather Morris, Jennifer Lopez, Aziz Ansari and Nicki Minaj, alongside the returning Queen Latifah, Josh Peck, Seann William Scott and Simon Pegg. "Ice Age 4: Continental Drift" lands on July 13th, 2012, but we're sure your kids will incessantly remind you of that closer to the time. Watch the trailer below.
