I\’ll say upfront – I\’m not a James Wan fan but it ended up surprising the hell out of me. A little rough around the edges – shot in 22 days and it was finished only the day before we saw it, the dialogue and its delivery is a bit hit or miss, and it\’s got a camp B-movie vibe to it, but it is a blast and does the horror thing very very well, keeping up the tension for pretty much the duration. By far better than the Saw series (I only saw up to the godawful third one), this is worth a look. Also, blew away John Carpenter\’s latest (The Ward) which I wouldn\’t have expected.
