I agree with you: I\’m not sold at all with the motion capture CGI and it would have been perfect in traditional animation…but that wouldn\’t be successful, unfortunately, in these days of 3D and FX drug.

But I was thinking more of the characters, the story, and that special sense of true adventure that we don\’t see on a screen since Indy III.

I like that dryer below complains about Spielberg losing \”it\” after Schindler\’s List, when he was cranking out and/or producing mountains of plastic, formulaic shit for a decade, beginning in 82.

I get that Tintin is considered a valuable property to market overseas, but it\’s a bit like Hollywood took a beloved bit of their culture, digested it, then shit it back on a plate for them covered in Cheez-Whiz and ranch dressing. Bon appetit!

Anyone that is familiar with the elegant, flat coloring and clear details of Herge wouldn\’t recognize anything familiar in this teaser, which attempts photorealism, depicting his characters as plastic toys in a semirealistic world. This objectively seems like the same approach taken in the awful Astro Boy CG adaptation, or any of Zemekis\’ terrible CG mocap movies. There\’s no apparent advantage to this needlessly expensive approach, over, say, filming the movie in live action.

It\’s a disappointing (lack of) stylistic approach, robbing the charm of the source material in a convoluted, overwrought process for no discernible reason.
