While the visual effects element may be a relief, all I see in these videos is the faded quality of the film print versus the cleaned up Blu-ray. Every classic film cleans it up. Are people saying they want digital versions of movies with faded colour?

I have the same discs, but the classic edits are terrible in visual quality, nor are they anamorphic widescreen. There\’ simply 4:3 ratio images that are letterboxed, which turns into a small windowbox on modern 16×9 TVs. It was Lucas sticking a thumb in the eye of consumers, intentionally put out a low-quality product.

Alas the theatrical cuts included on the DVDs in 2006 are inferior non anamorphic laserdisc transfers. They look pretty crap.

The theatrical cuts were put out on dvd in 2006 as an extra with the special edition dvd set, a limited edition set. Bought them then and threw out the special edition. I have digital copies now. This is the PRE-A NEW HOPE titling. No episode IV for the first movie, just Star Wars. 35mm would be awesome, but I recommend this as a home experience. It\’s out there!
