I do believe that\’s James Le Gros (Roach from the 1991 version) in an uncredited role there as a FBI agent of some sort. That\’s a nice touch. That said, this looks like a load of balls. It seems to have lost the fish out of water element that gave the original so much of it\’s storytelling juice – and the Utah character an interesting journey. Now he\’s already a tattooed extreme sportsman from the start.

I am impressed that they were able to find an actor even less convincing and more unnatural than Keanu Reeves for the Johnny Utah role. That cannot have been easy.

And – can we please call a moratorium on characters closing their eyes and falling backwards off cliffs? And Ray Winstone doing an American accent – sorry any accent apart from East End? Actually scratch that, Winstone\’s accent are actually hilariously bad, and may well be the saving grace of this movie.

I\’ll catch it on cable at some point. Until then, I\’ll be holding out hope for the shot-for-shot remake featuring Gary and Jake Busey taking on all the male roles alongside Lori Petty. That would be worth paying to see the day it opens over this.
