"McKay…balances humor and drama…" – Is it safe to say that the execs, the producers, and McKay himself are so alienated from the real phenomena that this project is even conceivable to them? I\’d much rather see a full documentary by Gibney based on Lewis\’s book than McKay\’s tripe.

Nobody likes a cynical Jackass, Jackass. Are you proposing that the producers of this film made it with the intention of not making their money back? Your question makes no sense. I\’m interested in films and filmmaking. I think that\’s why we all come here. And I\’m truly interested in discussion on these matters, no matter what the content of the article is. I\’m the film geek that actually follows the box office receipts over the weekend and compare it to the film\’s reviews and marketing. This stuff interests me. So when I ask why is the studio releasing a film of such dour content during the joyous (and generally overcrowded) season of Christmas, I\’m genuinely curious how they came to that decision, because it seems like a bad one, in my opinion.
