I\’m looking forward to watch this film. Peter Bradshaw from the Guardian didn\’t like Rob Pattinson\’s performance but made some interesting remarks. He said "Rob\’s natural style and charisma was surpressed, possibly because Dane had to play the charismatic part".
I\’ve always wondered about that. Rob Pattinson is known for being very charismatic on screen, that\’s why among other reasons he got the part of Edward Cullen. While Dane DeHaan is without doubt a very talented actor, he isn\’t really charisamtic, a condition sine qua non to play James Dean. On set pics, made by paps during the shooting, you could see that Rob as Stock was more attractive than Dane as Dean.
Bradshaw also wondered "if if hadn\’t been more intriguing if Rob had played Dean, if the roles were inversed". That is interesting too, from all young actors in this century, Pattinson is the only one who has been compared to Dean because of his looks, the hair in particular and his talent for brooding (in Remember Me he played a very Dean-like role). He would disagree firmly with Bradshaw, but the critic has a point IMO.

Pattinson again nails another accent perfectly and Dane is believable as James Dean, enough to make the film plausible, going by this clip. Early reviews are saying Pattinson shines as the photographer who helped make Dean into such an icon. I hear the target release date is September, seems like a very long time to wait.
