Admittedly the first generation of these films were lame but my kids loved them. Why do all action/superhero movies have to be so dark lately? I mean costumes, sets, time of day, etc. They all look the same and nothing like Marvel comics. They all seem like 30-something male basement dwellers fantasy. Boring.

Still a bagful of "nope". Also nice to see that the leaked shots of Doom we got months ago were not far off from the final product. Nice in the sense that it definitely doesn\’t live up to even the Doom design from the Story films. At this point, I would\’ve been more impressed if Trank opted to cast a female Doom (all respect to Kebbel though).

Also, c\’mon Joseph – be glad that he didn\’t write "the dead black guy from The Mask".

joseph, i suggest you view this site more like a gossip/rumor blog than a film criticism website. the masthead are just here to keep the ad money rolling and not to appreciate the art of film in any capacity beyond the superficial. i mean, they had a certain g toro writing here. need i say more?

It\’s a real shame and an INSULT that you refer to Reg E. Cathey as "the ribs guy/gardener from House of Cards". First of all, this is a famous actor that MANY people are familiar with. His role on The Wire was iconic and every Movie/TV enthusiast is aware who this man is. MANY people got excited when he heard his voiceover in the first teaser trailer. Secondly, House of Cards is a famous show and anyone who watches it knows who FREDDY is. We don\’t call him the "ribs guy"…We call him FREDDY. You have no business writing articles about movies or TV if you can\’t give the proper respect to WELL KNOWN actors. There\’s no need to assume that your readers don\’t know the name of the "ribs guy". Unbelievable. I\’m surprised you didn\’t say "it also has that black dude from Chronicle and that white dude from Whiplash".

Kevin, I agree with you. My opinion of how this looks has improved from \’idiotic\’ to \’okay.\’ But \’okay\’ is not enough to get me in a theater.
