the clip\’s really compelling, feels like they\’ve gone for a vivid naturalism, something biopics rarely aim for.

Glad this is being done. Now please get the correct trumpet Miles played. It is a Martin Committee. It has a unique look so it is important to have it in the film.

Having meticulusly studied miles in music school-from what I have read over the years, this would have been much better as a low budget with unknow actors. The guy playing Gil is almost painful to watch. Cant wait to see it-but I suspect it really could have been much better. Miles would likely be critical of it-because it misses what cant be gotten-anyone who could really play miles. Same for Sinatra, same for Jobs-genious are geniouses because they broke the mold and nobody can recreate the magic. Again-cant wait to see, but not as an insight into Miles.

Not only are several of the microphones in this scene modern, but Miles Davis played flugelhorn on "Gone." (If he DID play trumpet, it wouldn\’t have been a Bach like in this scene – he always played a Martin Committee.) There are actual photos and recorded banter from this session that exists, so there\’s no excuse for this.

I am big Miles Davis fan, and cannot wait to see this, especially the members of his quartets, if they appear ( Coltrane, Hancock, Shorter, etc). Presumly the guy at the piano in the clip is Gil Evans

The quickest way to look like a fool is for an actor to portray Miles Davis, but I got say I;m impressed, not only does Cheadle not look ridiculous, but he\’s convincing. This clip shows Miles circa 1958 (with arranger Gil Evans his musical brother)recording "Gone" from "Porgy and Bess". Cheadle has got it down, he even holds his horn the way Miles did, and his posture is correct, the way Miles stood in the late 50\’s (he crouched more later). The voice and demeanor are spot-on. I\’m very interested in seeing this.
