Kirk with Uhura? There is no basis for affection there. They would end up tearing each other\’s faces off within five minutes. I\’m not a huge fan of Spock and Uhura, but I do see a basis for an attraction there. Uhura does not respect Kirk, and Kirk only finds Uhura physically attractive, which doesn\’t sound like a stellar basis for a romantic relationship. The writers of the reboot purposefully set up Kirk and Uhura only to subvert it BECAUSE it is the most obvious, fake, typical Hollywood pairing in the film, and would have been incredibly disingenuous had it happened.

…I will now go back to caring about real-life things. Maybe.
