If someone didn't know Jake's work they would not have known he had lost weight if the article did not keep stressing it. That being said I get why he lost weight for the role- the look is creepy and based on the screen play the character Lou is creepy. I am sorry to say this but Jake's look ( no offense to skinny creepy looking guys) fits the character which I believe people would get without Playlist running commentary on Jake's weight loss. I can't see Lou being the handsome squared jaw Gyllenhaal that I am used to seeing.

I don't believe Jake is pursing awards but pursing better roles in the last few years, his choices have led him to some great character roles.
