As soon as one YA franchise ends, another arrives hoping to be the next breakout hit. And so, the question is: Will audiences who have said goodbye to Katniss make new room in their cinematic hearts for Cassie Sullivan? Columbia Pictures is hoping that’ll be the case as they gear up to release "The 5th Wave" next month.
Led by Chloë Grace Moretz, directed by J. Blakeson ("The Disappearance Of Alice Creed"), and based on the first book in a trilogy (naturally) by Rick Yancey, the story follows a young woman who struggles to survive a deadly attack against the planet. Here’s the official synopsis:
In the new film The 5th Wave, four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope — if she can only trust him.
Co-starring Nick Robinson, Alex Roe, Maika Monroe, Liev Schreiber, Maggie Siff, Maria Bello, Ron Livingston, Zackary Arthur and more, "The 5th Wave" opens on January 22, 2016. Check out five new clips from movie below, a featurette, and TV spots along with a bunch of new posters.
