It’s too long (almost three years) since we had a new film from David Fincher, the director having spent time away with TV series "House Of Cards," and with his frustrating and ultimately unfulfilled quest to make "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea." But the wait is almost over: it’s just a few weeks before "Gone Girl" premieres at the New York Film Festival.
But to tide us over for one of the most anticipated films of the fall, four new commercials helmed by the "Fight Club" and "Social Network" director have arrived. Working in the advertising world is nothing new for Fincher, but the four spots are for a brand that you wouldn’t traditionally associate with the director: the Gap.
Yep, everyone’s second-favorite khaki emporium have hired Fincher for a new campaign, and they’ve dumped their pastel and celeb-heavy approach for the director’s technique. The ads are still pretty terrific, displaying a Gallic New Wave sexiness that’s entirely new to the filmmaker, and one that we’d love to see cross over to the big screen at some point (maybe not in "Gone Girl." You can watch the four spots below, and we’re sure you won’t forget check out ‘GG,’ which stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and is in theaters on October 3rd. [Ad Age]
