I remember when this movie was coming out they said the Cap would be the entry point for the audience. Between this and the opening I really sense that they're was a much different more serious movie here that we didn't get cause they went for the "fun" tone over the "life is pain Batman" tone. Both would have worked.

I hope Stan Lee asks every waitress who is friendly for her number IRL. Then gets stared at like a creep.
IIRC the Captain America movie shows more than once that he is a decent sketch artist, hence the pad.
Liked this sequence, should have gone in, minus the weird Lee part.

Okay, now THIS is some great stuff. If there's an extended cut, these scenes absolutely gotta go back in. It is vintage Silver Age Captain America, the very essence of the character. (The sketch pad is from the character of Steve Rogers having been long been depicted as an artist in his spare time–in the 80s he even worked for Marvel Comics!)

Here's something that I think was missing from the movie (and as far as I remember wasn't mentioned in the still-good article from The Playlist)… not just Rogers having trouble living in 2012 but the fact that he has lost everything and everybody he once new. Maybe the second Captain America will work with this. (PS the waitress actually made it to the final cut of the movie somehow right ?)
