The idea of cramming too many villains into a film didn't work then and just because they've got a compliant to their every whim director in Webb doesn't mean it will work now either.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Marvel doesn't make a bigger attempt at securing rights to this franchise after this though. Sony attempting to make a pocket Marvel Universe under their own umbrella is definitely a move that's going to piss someone off.
