Jim Carrey rallied to stop parents from vaccinating their kids with his ex-wife and has never recanted. He has used his fame to "educate" parents about his completely unsupported belief that vaccinations cause autism. So he can't support the satirical message of violence in a film he made, which may or may not have an infinitesimal chance of contributing to some lunatic's choice to do real harm to others. However, he can can openly convey a direct message to parents that they should not vaccinate their kids, which is very likely to cause at least a few of those parents to take his advice and, in turn, cause some of their children to contract preventable diseases (Polio, Meningitis, Hep B, HPV, Tetanus, the flu etc) from which they may very well get sick and die. He has no right to turn a bunch of dead children into his personal soapbox, when he has probably contributed more to the actual physical harm of kids than this movie ever could.

I agree with Lars. It's one thing to come out and make a statement like that now he's shot the film and gotten paid. Marketing and press is also a big part of the actor's job. If Carrey feels so strongly, he ought to DO something. He should not profit from something he now feels so strongly against.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was planned.

Carrey get's to maintain his somewhat clean persona, and KA2 get's scandal publicity.

I won't be seeing it because the comics are some of the most poorly written drivel that I've ever read.

I'm baffled by Millar's comment: "âI'm baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn't in the screenplay eighteen months agoâ when Carey said he had a change of heart since Sandy Hook. A soulless franchise, indeed, and a sad, stupid one.

This is the epitome of a soulless franchise, and a person should truly reflect on their own priorities if they don't understand Carrey's decision. He may be a wackjob, but this is the most humanizing thing I've seen him do. Of course he knew about the level of violence in the movie when he shot it, but it's not unheard of for a horrible tragedy to lead a person to change their views.
