I hope this gets turned around. This is absolutely disappointing. WB is my favorite studio. I grew up with their content, rather than Disney. They've made some of the greatest films ever made (Casablanca, A Clockwork Orange, Goodfellas, etc.) What made them especially great was that they were more lenient on auteur control compared to the other studios, despite the occasional hiccup. Why else would some of the best filmmakers around come to WB for the majority of their work (Kubrick, Scorsese, etc.) I don't mind them downsizing budgets for films that may not need it, but to remove creative control from directors for these kind of films and still expect to get A-list filmmakers is insane. Especially disappointing, given that a few days ago, Emmerich talked about how important it was to have original content be a priority over blockbusters. WB isn't Disney. They know better than this.
