Acting and emoting-wise, this isn't the role for Bullock. Even from a box-office perspective, she isn't a consistent draw and certainly not a huge draw on the international market. 2009 was a perfect storm for her that isn't likely to be repeated. Her last thriller, 07's Premonition, took in only $84M worldwide. Even in comedy, there is a wide disparity between the grosses of All About Steve and The Proposal — both released in 2009. If Portman passes, Cuaron should probably rewrite and make Downey's role bigger.

LOL I just knew Bullock-in-Gravity story would pop out sooner or later. Wonder who's gonna be next week. Prolly Marion Cotillard.

Sandra (46) has 11 years on Angelina (35) and has been around longer. She had a lucky year cause usually her films do not make that much money. Not sure though that Sandra can carry this particular film.
