Yet if the DC/WB movies didn\’t have any creative control they\’d get even more flack for diving into the shared universe model. As a big DC comics fan who\’d rather not have a shared universe in the first place, I\’d much rather the individual filmmakers be able to call the shots and leave their own stamp on the property.
Marvel comics\’ universe was itself designed from the bottom up by a few people, DC comics was a tapestry strung together from a mish-mash of different properties.

The biggest mistake Warner Bros. are making is going the cohesive universe route. For lack of a better term, DC should be "anti Marvel". No big over arching universe between movies. More Elseworlds like. Imagine if instead of Man of Steel WB instead made Superman: Red Son? Besides DC is having a better go of things on TV. People are really into The Flash and Arrow right now.

IMO, the best comic book films were because of their directors, NOT the producers. Donner\’s Superman, Tim Burton\’s Batman, Nolan\’s TDK, Snyder\’s Watchmen & MoS, Raimi\’s Spider-Man and even Ang Lee\’s Hulk. They strive for bigger themes and have visual signatures. The MCU movies are really good action-comedies and always winking at the camera. I rarely remember them for their visual design.
