the problem i had with Pizzolatto's writing is that it was too derivative and he did not even bother to cover up his tracks or even transcend the source materials of his inspiration. however, the screenplays matched up with great direction and cinematography made for great tv viewing.

having said that, i'm excited for Vaughn if he lands the role. inspired casting. how about Ian McShane for a role?

The Cell though is underrated and he was fantastic in it.

Jon Padgett has a point and the evidence is out there if you care to look. That being said, Pizzolatto cited Ligoti as inspiration in several interviews, so I think this is far from conspiracy.

And yes! Vince Vaughn's performance in Into The Wild was amazing. let's do it.

Not enamoured with the idea but still looking forward to seeing whether VV is up to it (if he does get a leading role). If Farrell gets the 'damaged' role I would be a bit disappointed (it would be playing to type as I am sure most would agree). If he went for a Harrelson role from the first season then I would be more impressed (although obviously I don't want to see a like for like season). Just simply something similar in terms of scope.

I always thought that he was great in Return to Paradise. I think he could easily nail this. People tend to forget that every actor is considered nothing, until they get the role that changes that notion. If Mcconaughey had been offered a very complex role in a prestigious TV drama back in 2009 after Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Before The Lincoln Lawyer, Killer Joe, etc. There would have been so many negative and downright insulting comments. He was a laughing stock and now that he has proven himself, He will never be looked down on as an actor again. Maybe Vince Vaughn will prove himself as well.

Warming to season 2. Vince Vaughn always struck me as an actor with untapped ugliness inside, all the better if this is the first reveal, also The Wrap has Elizabeth Moss circling a role, she was astonishing in TOTL.

Inspired casting in my opinion. If he reigns himself in, plays it understated with dramatic chops and loses his Vince Vaughn schtick then yeah, he could be great in this.

It's time for him to show what else he has to offer. This will be it. I expect him to knock it out of the park.

If they are really considering vince vaughn for season 2, they might as well turn it into a starsky and hutch series featuring owen wilson and ben stiller. Fantastic first season, I really hope it doesnt become a hollywood cheesefest.

God, So much negativity going around about the casting rumors so far. Ridiculous. I hope Vaughn and Colin are cast and I hope they destroy any doubts that anyone might have, As I know they are completely capable of doing. They are both great actors when given the right material to work with. This could very well end up being greater than the first season, Which people forget wasn't absolutely perfect. Close, But not completely perfect.
