and I loved the Kathryn Altman TV promotions of the first airing.

It's exactly the kind of by-the-numbers portrait he liked to overturn.

I literally groaned when it opened with a dictionary-style definition of Altman-esque, and each of the later celebrity attempts to define that word just felt smug and oversimplified. A wasted opportunity by Mann.
