I'm sorry to spoil your myth, but my country HAD an amazing film producing industry. We had a great number of great directors, writers and actors. In fact you could compare the greek films of the '50s and '60s to the wonderful films of the Italian cinema, and especially the comedies. Oh, indeed 100s of great comedic films were produced but unlike Italian films ours were never shown outside. That's the great tragedy. All the social issues, the problems, the politics etc were included in those films, much like the Italian ones. But no one knows it. The great "minds" here chose to promote dramatic, "cultural" films that no one saw or liked. And we've come to this. All the great films are negleted and forgoten, the film industry have died and for more than 30 years the only films traveling abroad are pieces of crap as the one above. That stupid fucking monstrocity, dogtooth, made less than 20000 tickets, everyone hated it. The little scenes i've seen are hideous, infact i saw them in a satyric show on TV. I almost puke. All these "films" are made with people's money with no revenue and are part of a great scam plan steeling goverment's money for decades. Of course i didn't read the review for the above "film", if you like it, eat it.

'Visually, too, Avranas seems to owe a debt to Lanthimos in particular, with the same kind of crisp digital photography and pristine, almost artificial framing at play...' I hate to be that guy but Dogtooth was shot on film. If I remember correctly, they purposely used expired stock to get that washed out, pastoral look.
