Jessica, the two best reviews I've read this year BY FAR are your reviews of "Foxcatcher" and "Birdman". Having seen both and being equally effusive and informative, who gave the better performance? Steve Carell or Michael Keaton?

Just wanted to chime in, what an amazingly well written review! Will have to read more of them by this author. I almost forgot it was about a movie, I was so enamoured with the absolutely exceptional standard of writing. My faith in the limitless possibilities of film critique is now restored.

great to see that jessica has a lot of friends/family leaving comments – would be nice to see people commenting about the movie as opposed to espousing their admiration for the reviewer – hard to take any of it seriously – obviously one needs to see this film for themselves – am sure it is pretty good

I agree with all of you on the brilliance of this review in itself, appart from what looks to be an amazing experience at the cinema. I've never warmed up too much to IÃ±aritu's storytelling, but this will certainly change that.

Jessica Kiang is officially my new favourite Indiewire critic. Her reviews from the past few festivals have been outstanding, especially her raves – which are so infectious and enjoyable to read that you can't help but hop on the hype train. Best review I've read of Birdman so far, and that includes Variety, Hollywood Reporter, The Wrap and The Telegraph (which were all extremely positive). Great stuff, Jessica.
